# Experiment #24: What HDinHD can feed into this hub

**Date:** October 04, 2026
**Model:** none (HTTP probe only)

## Hypothesis

HDinHD's curated perturbation studies, omics datasets, gene sets, animal models, and GeM-HD genetics can be ingested by an unauthenticated client and used as inputs to later experiments.

## Method

On October 4, 2026 this client requested three public URLs and followed redirects. It did not submit the account form, did not log in, and did not download catalog rows. The responses are stored in `data/hdinhd_access.json` (OAuth client id redacted). A separate normalizer, `src/hdinhd.py`, accepts a catalog only when the caller supplies records. Tests use `tests/fixtures/hdinhd_catalog.json`, which is marked synthetic and is not HDinHD data.

## Result

- description: HTTP 200 final https://enroll-hd.org/for-researchers/hdinhd/ blocked=False
- account_application: HTTP 200 final https://www.hdinhd.org/account-application/ blocked=False
- explorer: HTTP 200 final https://www.hdinhd.org/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hdinhd.org%2Foauth%2Fauthorize%3Fresponse_type%3Dcode%26client_id%3Dredacted blocked=True

Blocker recorded by the probe: HDinHD Explorer requires an approved account and OAuth (logged-out request ended at https://www.hdinhd.org/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hdinhd.org%2Foauth%2Fauthorize%3Fresponse_type%3Dcode%26client_id%3Dredacted). Apply at the account form and accept the data-use agreement. No HDINHD_TOKEN or equivalent secret is configured, so no catalog rows were fetched.

Ingest of that probe produced 0 rows.

### Degrees of possibility

- **public description only** (available now: True). The Enroll-HD page names perturbation studies, omics, gene sets, animal models, and GeM-HD GWAS summaries. Counts on that page are marketing copy and are not ingested as data.
- **approved researcher account** (available now: False). After account approval, Explorer can be used by a person. There is no documented anonymous bulk API for perturbation, omics, gene-set, animal-model, or GeM-HD tables.
- **future tokenized ingest** (available now: False). If CHDI exposes an export or a session cookie via HDINHD_TOKEN, ingest_catalog() already accepts that shape. Nothing is downloaded until that credential exists.

The five record kinds the future ingest will accept, once a credential exists, are perturbation, omics, gene_set, animal_model, and gem_hd. No counts of real HDinHD studies are claimed here. The public Enroll-HD description names those collections; it is not a data file.

## What remains blocked

`HDINHD_TOKEN` is not set, and no anonymous export was found. Applying for an account is a manual step at https://www.hdinhd.org/account-application/ and requires the data-use agreement. Until that exists, experiments must not cite HDinHD tables.

## Limitations

- A logged-out probe cannot see records that exist behind the account.
- Marketing numbers on the Enroll-HD page were not copied into the corpus.
- Not medical advice.

updated by publishing the access probe. No HDinHD rows were invented.
